A website we want to be accessible.

The website has to be usable by everyone, including people with disabilities: a site some people cannot use is an unfinished site. The app is not covered by this statement.

Partially compliant

Internal self-assessment of spicydare.com, carried out in September 2026: a review of the site's code, keyboard navigation testing and checks in the browser on spicydare.com, and screen reader testing on the publisher's neighbouring websites (not yet on spicydare.com). No third-party audit to date, so we state no compliance percentage and claim no certification. A full audit is planned, and this page will be updated with its results, including if they are worse than our own findings. This is a voluntary approach: the publisher does not meet the thresholds that make digital accessibility mandatory in France.

What is in place

These points were verified during the self-assessment.

  • The whole site can be navigated with a keyboard, and the element holding focus is clearly marked.
  • A skip link, translated into every language, leads straight to the content.
  • Text contrast meets level AA on the site's dark theme, including text over photographs (measured on the worst pixel).
  • Headings follow in order and the main regions of the page (header, navigation, main content, footer) are identified for screen readers.
  • The phone mock-ups illustrating the app are decorative: they are removed from keyboard navigation and from screen readers.
  • The language picker closes with the Esc key, and focus returns to its button.
  • The mobile menu opens and closes with the keyboard, and whether it is open or closed is announced.
  • The system setting for reduced motion is respected: animations and transitions are switched off, smooth scrolling included. Nothing animates on its own: the counters on the phone mock-ups are frozen.
  • The layout stays readable at 200% zoom and down to a screen width of 320 pixels, with no horizontal scrolling. On a narrow or short screen, the “Escalation” section is laid out flat so that nothing is cut off.
  • The declared language of each page matches the language of its address.
  • No third-party accessibility overlay is installed: everything is handled in the site's own code.
  • In the “Escalation” section, a panel is exposed to screen readers only when it is displayed: only the active panel during the animated scroll, all three (text included) on a narrow or short screen and when zoomed. FAQ answers are likewise removed while they are collapsed.
  • A site map lists every page and the main sections of the home page: the menu is no longer the only way to find your way around.
  • Footer links are grouped in a labelled navigation region. On the secondary pages they are underlined and the current page is indicated; on the home page, the link to IITECH is underlined.
  • The text of the home page stays readable, and the menu usable, even if JavaScript does not run.
  • Runs of cards, values, safeguards, questions and badges are marked up as real lists, so screen readers announce how many items there are and let you move through them.
  • No page is a dead end: every page carries links in its own content to keep going.

Known limitations

We would rather name them than leave them unsaid.

  • Screen reader tests (NVDA in Firefox, September 2026) were carried out on the publisher's neighbouring websites, iitech.fr and luvables.fr, and not yet on spicydare.com. VoiceOver and TalkBack have not yet been used on real devices.
  • There is no French Sign Language version.
  • The terms of use, the consent charter and the privacy policy are not yet offered in plain language or in easy-to-read form.
  • The atmosphere photographs have no text alternative: they are decorative and carry no information the text does not already give.
  • This statement covers the website. The mobile app is not covered here and will be assessed separately.
  • Without JavaScript, the atmosphere photographs do not appear and the question buttons no longer unfold anything: the answers are then shown in full.
  • The contrast of the text inside the phone mock-ups, which are decorative and hidden from assistive technologies, has not been measured.
